Domaine SCHAEFFER is a family farm located in Epfig, the largest wine-growing municipality in Alsace, halfway between Strasbourg and Colmar, not far from the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg and Mont Sainte Odile. Since 1750, in the line of more than 10 generations of winemakers, the development by 4 full-time people, helped by several seasonal, of the 12 hectares of the vineyard allows the development of nearly 80,000 bottles in 35 different cuvées, available at the Domaine. By reserving during your stay in Alsace, you are invited to rest in our lodgings, visit the Domaine and its vineyard (picnic or walks from the vineyard to the wine), and to discover its Crus (tastings).

The management of the vineyard and the vinification are made since 2010 as part of the organic farming and our wines are certified organic by Ecocert since the harvest 2013. The vinification and ageing of the wines in stainless steel vats or barrels combine ancestral know-how and modern technology, in order to guarantee the best quality of our products. A particular care is taken from the vineyard to the preparation of the Fronholz, Haut-Fronholz and Hertenstein wines, marked by the typicity of the terroir. We also produce small vintages of white wines, dry or red, unfiltered and without added sulphites, called Carrière du Loup. In the best vintages, the elaboration of Vendanges Tardives or Sélections de Grains Nobles according to very strict rules, leads to rare sweet wines of high expression. Vinified from blends of Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, five cuvées of Crémant d'Alsace white or rosé are proposed to brighten your holidays with their bubbles. In addition to the wine-making activity, the winemaker offers a varied range of Eaux de Vie fruit, wild berries or marcs, distilled according to the artisanal tradition, raised in candy or oak barrels (30 years of age), as well as creams and liqueurs.
