The country on the other side of the world... Funny thing is that New Zealand shares a lot with France : culture, gastronomy, wines, nature...
A diversity of landscapes and wines on a very tiny area. Tiny but not that much : 268 000 km² divided into 2 islands : the one of the north and the one on the south where volcanos, fjords, glaciers, countryside suceed in each other.... Inhabitants of New Zealand, the kiwis, like really much their land and like to take good care of it.
Stretching over 1600kms, New Zealand counts 10 big wine regions with very diverse type of soils, climate...
The most famous are the region of Marlborough and Auckland. First vineyards were planted 100 years ago but production really increased the last 20 years. Some wines of New Zealnd get international recognition quite often!
Wines are labelled under the type of grape and the region they come from but not with the system that we know of Appellations in France or Italy for example.
