The current estate of Castile was already planted with vines in the Middle Ages. • It was born from the grouping of different lands, belonging to the lords of Solliès, the fief of Blétonèdes and that of Garréjade. • The neighbouring lands then belonged to the Bishop of Toulon and the Commanderie des Hospitaliers de Beaulieu. • In 1394, Marie de Blois, Countess of Provence, sold all her rights on Solliès to a Spanish seigneur, Jean-Gonsalve de Morance, with the following description: "houses, meadows, vineyards, cultivated and uncultivated lands, plains..." • 40 years later, these lands are again sold to the Count of Provence. In the 15th century, the estate returned to the King of France and entered the possession of the lords of Forbin. • The name Castile appears for the first time in the second half of the 16th century. • In the 18th century, a notarial deed described an estate «of land of great size planted in particular with vines and olive trees...» • In 1728 work began on the construction of a castle in place of an old bastide. As early as 1730 the presence of the «great cellar, composed of two adjacent aisles of 45m long and 20m wide, vaulted in beautiful apparatus...» • In 1730 the property was sold to Jean-Louis de Selle, squire of the city of Toulon, adviser to the king, house and crown of France in the chancery at the court, and treasurer general of the Marine in the Toulon department. He said of his lands in a letter of homage to the king: “… vineyards, olive groves (pottery land), arable and waterable land, meadows and water, garden, hazel alleys, pomegranates…” • In 1829 the property was ceded to Madame Aubert, widow of a silky Lyonnais, who would enlarge the property by buying different vineyards during the 19th century. • In 1922, her two children having died, Madame Aubert, very pious, bequeathed the property to the Diocese of Toulon.  

Château La Castille is one of the oldest estates in Provence, where the vines have been planted since the 16th century. 160 hectares of vines in PDO Côtes de Provence and IGP Var. The Estate is HVE certified.
