Do you like visiting the vineyards of the world or simply travel and discover new regions ?

You have the chance, in France, to have the choice between a wide variety of landscapes by the seaside, by the mountains, crossing the countryside, forests, lakes… Famous or less famous destinations that make France being the 1st touristic country in the world but also the 1st wine producer in value of the world !
Wines like the Grands Crus from Bordeaux area, the ones from Saint Emilion, Burgundy with their emblematic grapes like chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot or even the spirits like Cognac, Armagnac having a worldwide notoriety are all made here traditionally in our regions where winegrowers, winemakers work patiently and with passion sometimes days and nights to create those nectars that we like to see on our tables, a few months or years later.
Apart from those emblematic names, there are other products just as much noble and elaborated all around France and all around the world (like in New Zealand as you will see below) that are sometimes unknown but always a really good surprise to discover.

Visiting the regions where they are made will help you understand better the taste of a wine :  its balance, its elegance, its subtil perfumes or on the contrary its full body, its strength, its flavorful aromas… The reason : terroir, a very common term nowadays which gathers the influence of several factors such as the environment, the soils, the climate, the people, the habits, the techniques… that will in the end characterized the wine from this exact location (designations have this role of differentiation) playing a key role. Travelling along the Route des Vins (the most famous being the Alsatian one but there is also the Languedoc, Provence, Médoc, the cider… ones) you will really appreciate why a wine, a spirit is of that type and not of another under the influence of the terroir where it was born.

What ever is your destination, once on site, let your hosts (the people from the « Cru ») be your guides and telling you about secret adresses around them, in their own regions.
Either you are a neophyte or an amateur, Wine&Spirit Lodging is here to help you find where to stop to spend your wine-break, your wine experience the closest possible to the grape staying at or next to the private wine estates.  Discover regional and also unusual architectures, landscapes that will take you breathe away, caring and fascinating people. A trip with wines, discoveries, experiences, special moments in your sights that will make you approach better any kind of wine (white, red, rosé, sparkling…) or spirit next to the barrel or in the welcoming area available for you.
